NGO “The Ukrainian Center for Civic Initiatives “Svitlo” is a non-profit independent non-governmental organization. The main NGO “UCCI “Svitlo purpose is the development of open civil society in the south-eastern region of Ukraine through the support and implementation of the local civic initiatives.  NGO “UCCI “Svitlo  takes active part in the propagation of the new media and in the conduct of information and education campaigns on the need for democratic choice and implementation of European standards in the life of Ukrainian society.

 

Projects:

2017-2019. Project: “Development of traditional crafts as a driver for SME and self-employment enhancement in the near-border communities” (http://www.craftit.org.ua/).
Programme: Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Program.
Start date and end date of the project: 2017-2019.
Project partners: Belarus.
Project objectives and main results: development of SMEs and self-employment enhancement in the field of creative economy in the near-border communities of Ukraine and Belarus.

2017-2018. Project: “ProOsvita: Development of Youth Self-Governance in the East and South of Ukraine as a Starting Educational Platform for Active Citizens”.

The purpose of the project is to teach young people from East and South Ukraine to participate in social and political life and influence local government.  The project will be implemented in Luhansk, Donetsk, Mykolayiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhya Regions of Ukraine.  The main target group is the young people of the East and South of Ukraine, mainly university students ages 17-25 including internally displaced people in Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk, Roma population in Mariupol, disabled persons in Zaporizhya

2017-2019. Project: “”Assistance to IDPs, victims of National Socialism, who fled the conflict in the East of Ukraine”. The project is implemented with the support of the EVZ Foundation, Germany.

2017-2018. Project: “English for Media Literacy Massive Open Online Course”. The Massive Open Online Course for English for Media Literacy project is implemented by the Regional English Language Office (RELO)  and the Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the Embassy of the United States in Kyiv, Ukraine. The project is administered in Ukraine by the public organisation “Ukrainian Center for Civic Initiatives” Svitlo”.

2016-2017. Project «Campaign against social and political disinformation in  the Odessa regional segment of social networks». The project is implemented with the support of the US Embassy in Kyiv.

2016-2017. Project: “Democratization of Education in the Donetsk region through the Development of Youth Government”.

The goal of of the project is to intensify the activity of the youth self-government movement in the Donetsk area (in the territories controlled by the government of Ukraine) and to establish the dialog between the youth of the West and the East of Ukraine.

The project will provide the training to teach the youth from the Donetsk region about the new opportunities of the youth government. The project will establish communications between the young people from different regions of Ukraine and enable students from the Donetsk region to visit Lviv / Ternopil and learn about the best practices of the youth government.

2015-2016. Project: «Provision of emergency aid for victims of National Social-ism who have suffered under hostilities in Eastern Ukraine».

Public Organization “Ukrainian Center of Civic Initiatives “Svitlo” is happy to announce the start of new project with the support of The Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” on “Provision of emergency aid for victims of National Social-ism who have suffered under hostilities in Eastern Ukraine”. The project is aimed to train volunteers and provide humanitarian aid (purchase food, improve living conditions, do the repairs, etc.) to victims of National Socialism, affected by the warfare in the East of Ukraine. The help will be provided to the elderly victims of National Socialism who are living in areas affected by the warfare or forced to flee their homes and migrate internally. The project foresees close collaboration with local authorities and voluntary organizations to provide emergency humanitarian and psychological assistance for about 500 elderly victims of National Socialism, affected by the conflict in the East of Ukraine. The project will last for 10 months (July 2015 – April 2016).

2014 – 2015. In October 2014 the NGO “Svitlo” launched the project “Creating Conditions for Positive Coverage of European Integration by Social Media of East Ukraine”. The project provides an information campaign devoted to benefits of European integration, which focuses on youth of Eastern regions of Ukraine, with the assistance of social networks. The project is implemented with the support of the European Programme of the International Fund “Renaissance”.
2014-2015. In September 2014 the NGO “Svitlo” started the project “Development of Student Self-government in High School of South and East of Ukraine in the Context of Democratic Reforms”. The aim of the project is activation of the student self-government in the South-Eastern region of Ukraine and establishment of a dialogue between young people from East and West. The project involves training young people from the South and East the new possibilities of self-government under the new version of the Law of Ukraine “About Higher Education”. The project includes a dialogue of young people from different regions of Ukraine and visits of students from South-Eastern regions to Lviv city to study the best practices of governance.

09/2013 – 04/2014. Project: “Open Internet media space for the local media of Northern Ukraine” supported by International Renaissance Foundation.

The project will create 16 free web-sites for printed media in Northern Ukraine, organization of training to manage data media web-sites, an information campaign on the problems of local media in the Center of Ukraine.

09/2013 – 09/2015. Project: «Crimean dialogue 2” with the support of the Foundation «Remembrance, Responsibility and Future», Germany, in cooperation with the All-Ukrainian charitable organization “Age Concern in Ukraine”.

The project «Crimean dialogue” it’s a volunteer project, wherein the local level young volunteers create meeting place — a space for communication of elderly people. The purpose of meetings is a revival participant’s new pulse of life and interests, experience and recognition of achievement of the elderly and improve their social status.

09/2013 – 01/2014. Project: “Teaching young volunteers skills how to support elderly people in the Crimea” with the support of the Stand Int.  (Scottish charitable organization).

09/2012 – 04/2013. Project: “Open Internet media space for the local media of Central Ukraine” supported by International Renaissance Foundation.

The project will create 15 free web-sites for printed media of Central Ukraine, organization of training to manage data media web-sites, an information campaign on the problems of local media in the Center of Ukraine.

09/2011 – 04/2012. Project: “Open Internet media space for the local media of Southern Ukraine” supported by International Renaissance Foundation in the framework of the media.

The project created 20 free web-sites for printed media of Southern  Ukraine, organization of training to manage data media web-sites, an information campaign on the problems of local media in the South of Ukraine.

09/2011 – 05/2012. Project “European identity of the Crimean cities” (the project to conduct information campaign for youth and students of Crimean universities of Europe on European values and European identity) supported by Council of European Program International Renaissance Foundation.

06/2010 – 05/2011. Supported by Council of European Program International Renaissance Foundation Project “European identity of young people of the Crimea” (the project to conduct information campaign for youth and students of Crimean universities of Europe on European values and European identity).

2009. In collaboration with the Coalition of NGOs “Crimea smoke-free” it was carried the youth event “Farewell, cigarette!”.

2008. It was implemented a project on distribution booklets with information on the benefits of energy conservation among the students of Simferopol universities.

2008. Training students in Crimea, in explaining their rights in case of illegal detention, and other unlawful actions by law enforcement.

ГО «Український центр громадянських ініціатив «Світло»
— неприбуткова незалежна громадська організація створена в 2005 році. В організації на постійної основі працює 5 осіб. Організація об’єднує близько 100 волонтерів. Географія проектів що реалізує ГО «Світло» охоплює Південні та Східні області України. За останні 5 років при підтримці міжнародних донорів ГО «Світло» реалізувала 20 суспільно важливих проектів.
